Pikes Peak Bernese Mountain Dog Club

Colorado Springs, Colorado

CLUB FORMATION

The first official PPBMDC meeting was held in March 2005.  A group of Bernese Mountain Dog Lovers wanted to have a club to focus activities around their true loves, their Berners.  It was also important that membership be centered from Colorado Springs and the surrounding areas.  Local access with shorter drives to functions were a concern to all forming this club.

The club is still in it's early development.  The PPBMDC is made up of pet owners, as well as dog show enthusiasts.  Already there is a balance of a variety of activities to cover the wide scope of interests of the two legged club members.

The club decided to go for AKC affiliation right from the beginning.  To that end paper work has been submitted to AKC that helps our club begin the AKC recognition process.  This is the more formal side of the club.

Business meetings are held every other month on the third Tuesdays of the odd months.  On the even months and sometimes even the odd months fun events and activities are planned.  To date we have held picnics, fun days with draft, grooming sessions etc.  hikes and local parades.

If you are visiting this site, you have already shown an interest in berners.  Even if you are waiting for your first berner puppy, please stop by and visit one of our meetings or functions and consider that you have been given an open invitation to join this club.  All are welcome.
